KEURIG 5060 27-CUP-CAPACITY K-CUP SPINNING CAROUSEL, CHROME

The Keurig 5060 27-Cup K-Cup Spinning Carousel is a neat idea, and quite a cool little gizmo to have next to your Keurig single cup coffee maker. It is a little carousel on which you can hang k-cups, the single serving coffee capsules for use in Keurig coffeemakers. You can spin the carousel around browsing your choice of flavors, and when you see one you feel like drinking, you can just take it and insert it into the coffee machine. So it’s a great concept and it’s fun to use.

The downside is its durability. I don’t actually own a K-Cup Carousel myself, but I have heard from numerous other people that after ordering the product online, it arrived broken, with the rings into which you insert the k-cups pulled off. Many consumers complain that it is flmsy and that the welding is not strong enough, causing parts to detach. It also doesn’t spin smoothly, but is rather bumpy.

The product mght be somewhat flimsy, but a large factor in causing the damage was the shipping. Perhaps if you bought one of these at your local shop rather than online, you could simply be careful with it at home and it would avoid damage.

The bottom line to the Keurig 5060 27- Cup K-Cup Spinning Carousel is its shoddy craftsmanship. Which ia too bad since it’s such a great idea for a product.

THE PROS AND CONS OF SINGLE SERVE COFFEE MAKERS

This article does a good job of summing up the pros and cons of single serve/one cup coffee makers. I personally don’t use one cup coffee makers because I enjoy the freedom of being able to choose whatever coffee blend I want, not only those produced as coffee pods compatible with my unit. Also, I can’t drink just one serving! Check the title of this blog again–I’m a coffee addict! I drink 9-10 cups a day. So a single serve maker won’t cut it. But I’m not normal. For the average person, they are a good option.

1 Cup Coffee Maker – Why Choose a Single Serve Machine?
By Kim Cooper

Coffee drinkers from all walks of life choose specific coffee makers for various reasons. The one machine that is easy to love is the 1 cup coffee maker. There are several reasons this particular machine has become so popular. Whether you are a serious coffee drinker or enjoy an occasional cup, there is no doubt you will love them.

The Pros of Owning a Single Serve Coffee Maker

Breville Single Serve Coffee MakerThe biggest advantage of these little machines is that every cup will be its freshest. There is no more worry of having a stale cup from a pot that has been sitting around for hours. If you get the drip coffee maker, you have more control over the types of beans you use and the amount of coffee you want to brew.

Another advantage is the convenience. Most of these appliances take up very little space. You can fit them in a small area at home or at work. If you purchase the type that uses coffee pods, you have much less clean-up and no worries about grinding or measuring your own beans. You use one coffee pod per cup then toss it.

It is nice being able to brew a single serve cup and not waste an entire pot because you are the only one drinking it.

The Cons of 1 Cup Coffee Makers

The only disadvantage to having these types of makers is that the ones that use coffee pods require the use of the manufacturers brand coffee pods. This can be a hassle if those specific pods are not readily available in your local supermarket. Fortunately, many manufacturers have made the machines compatible with standard pods which means more variety for the user.

Besides that drawback, there isn’t much reason to not own a 1 cup coffee maker. If you feel like your large version will go to waste, don’t worry. Drag it out when you have company over. A single serve coffee maker would take awhile to use if you have several people over. I would also consider whether you would prefer drip brew or use coffee pods. I prefer to grind my own beans so a drip brew maker would work best.

Whichever type you choose, you will definitely enjoy a great cup of java!

GREEN MOUNTAIN K-CUP COFFEE

green mountain coffee k pods
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters produce most of their coffee in whole bean and k-cup versions. What are K-cups? K-cups are single serving units of your favorite coffee that are used in Keurig coffee makers (they are sometimes unofficially called coffee k pods). Keurig is the leading maker of single cup coffee makers and they are a subsidiary of Green Mountain. So of course Green Mountain makes sure to sell its blends in k-cup form.

K-cups are usually sold in cases of 24 servings, or 96. If you buy a case of assorted flavors, you will receive fewer k-cups, 88 servings in the case of the large packs. They give you a little less coffee for your money, but when I first bought a keurig single cup brewer I ordered a case of 88 assorted k-cup flavors to discover which ones I liked best. It’s worth paying a little more for the privelege of sampling.

For the record, my favorite flavours were the Breakfast Blend, and the French Roast K-cup. Green Mountain also makes k-cup teas and hot cocoa as well.

TOP 10 COFFEE MAKERS

Having a home coffee maker is one of nicest yet most affordable luxuries in life. Anytime you like, you can kick back and relax with a nice rich cup of fresh coffee and let the scent of roasted coffee beans waft through the air. But what are the best home coffee makers?

According to surveys of coffee lovers and according to the number of coffee makers purchased online, there are 10 top coffee makers.

The number 1 coffee maker is the Black and Decker Spacemaker. It is a large pot, 12 cup coffemaker, yet is very affordable in the $60 range.

The number 2 unit is the Keurig Special Edition B60 Coffee Maker. It is the most popular of the single serving coffee makers and is widely reported to be easy to use. It sells in the $120 range.

In third place is another Kuerig unit, the B70 coffee maker. It is another single cup filler, but is considered the top-of-the-line unit and better than the B60. It sells in the $150 range.

In fourth place is a much cheaper unit, the Hamilton Beach Michael Graves Design 40304 coffee maker. Selling in the $40-50 range, it is a great value for the price and brews quickly and with little leakage.

Number 5 is the Kuerig Elite B40. Selling in the $100 range, this is another popular single cup maker. It has less bells and whistles than the B70, but has all you need for quality coffee in a hurry.

Number 6 is the Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine. This unit costs around $300, and though it has some fancy features a lot of people report being disappointed with it. It’s hard to live up to the expectations set by that kind of price.

Number 7 is the Cuisinart PRC-12. This is a 12 cup coffee maker which generally sells in the $60 range. While its design is revolutionary, some customers have complained that it is not very durable and may not last very long.

Number 8 is the Hamilton Beach BrewStation 47214. A 12 cup coffee maker that dispenses coffee cup by cup rather than into a pot, it sells in the $75 range. Quality reports seem mixed, with some customers loving their unit, while others report frustraion with coffee leakage.

Number 9 is the Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine. This is an expensive machine with an average price of around $750, but its quality reviews are impeccable. People who have lived in Italy and become accustomed to authentic high quality espresso report that this is the only coffee maker that can impress them. Probably the only thing that keeps this unit from being higher in the list is its price.

Number 10 is the Cuisinart DGB-600. It is a 10 cup coffee maker with a thermal pot. It sells for between $110 and $200, and by most reports is a good quality coffee maker and a good value for the money, but with no special features to make it standout. And that’s just fine. Simple and good is much better than fancy but flawed.

These are the 10 best coffee makers, based on online sales. I hope you can find a unit that suits your own personal needs and lifestyle.
